Pak troops violate ceasefire in J-K, suffer 'heavy casualties'
Indian troops have caused heavy casualties on Pakistan after Pakistani troops on 12th January 2025 violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. The rare ceasefire violation is since the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021. This has escalated tensions on the India-Pak border and Indian security forces are on a high state of alert. Recently India lost two soldiers in different incidents. The ceasefire violation followed that incident in which a captain was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion triggered by suspected terrorists. Pakistani troops had resorting to unprovoked firing on Indian posts in Poonch and Indian army delivered a befitting response. Whilst the damage inflicted on Pakistan was not readily available, yet Indian sources said that the Pakistani side had heavy casualties. This was the first ceasefire violation this year and a fourth cross-border incident in five days.
